Jack heard the door close behind him as he ushered Rapunzel back out onto the deck. He knew Merida and Hiccup would want to talk about this latest development – he had seen that ‘look’ pass between them; the one that made him feel like he was intruding on a private moment.

Though he had known them both for a good number of years now, Merida and Hiccup had known each other longer. There was a strong bond between them that could never be replicated with anyone else, no matter how close a friend Jack was to them both. At times this made Jack feel a little lonely, but he supposed that if their relationship was heading the way he thought it was heading, then it was probably not a relationship he would want to duplicate with either of them anyway. He grinned to himself.

Suddenly he felt a sharp pinch on his ear.

“Ow! What was that for?!”

“Well I tried calling your name three times already but that wasn’t working. You’re pulling me along like a ragdoll Jack, is that entirely necessary?!”

“Oh. Still, you didn’t have to tug my ear like some mother telling off her child you know.” He replied, releasing his grip from her arm and rubbing his ear gingerly.

“I’m slowly getting the feeling that bodily harm is the only way to get your attention – it seemed to work for Merida.” She grinned wickedly. “Maybe I should be taking more leaves out of her book; she’s a Captain of an entire ship, everyone listens to her and does what she wants. It couldn’t hurt to be a bit more like her.”

“Urgh, don’t go getting any ideas from her please. Merida is amazing sure; she’s one of a kind – and I’d like it to stay that way. I’m not sure I could handle two violent she-devils on this ship.” He gestured for her to follow him down the steps to the deck, nodding to Hook Hand at the wheel as he passed.

“You’re fine the way you are Punz, you don’t need to be anyone else.”

He reached the bottom of the steps and turned, expecting to see her right behind him but to his surprise found that she had frozen part way down the steps. She was staring at him, an odd look on her face. The flickering light from the lanterns lining the deck cast intricate patterns across her face, making it hard to pin point her expression. Where the light fell on her hair it seemed to make it glow, as if the strands were reacting to the light and resonating in response. The thought suddenly struck him that she was like a candle flame herself – delicate and easily snuffed out but warm and full of life.

He raised a questioning eyebrow. “What?”

Starting slightly, she shook her head as if coming out of a daze. “Nothing.” She scampered down the rest of the steps to stand next to him.

He shrugged, and began to lead her across the deck, pointing out various parts of the ship and explaining what they were for. The moon shone down on them, casting silver pools of light which juxtaposed against the warmth from the lanterns and the sky was littered with twinkling stars. Rapunzel was only half paying attention to Jack as she gazed up at the sky – her tower had never afforded her a view so beautiful. No matter how much she had strained her neck out of her window, the tall sides of the valley had left her with only a narrow sky to gaze upon.

Now the entire heavens and ocean stretched out above and around her, and the pure amount of empty space left her feeling a little light headed.

“Where are all the men?” she interrupted Jack mid-sentence, suddenly noticing that the majority of the crew had now vanished.

“In bed.” He replied simply. “At this time of night we only need a skeleton crew to run the ship – keep it going in the right direction and keep watch, that sort of thing.”

What he didn’t add was the only reason they had all been up on deck so late in the first place is because word had quickly got out that they were expecting a woman aboard which is not something they got to see very often – especially not a woman as pretty as Rapunzel.

Merida was a beauty in her own right but being the Captain and, well, Merida she was strictly off limits. “Though I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if a certain first mate decided to ignore those limits” he grinned to himself.

He had seen the romance blossoming between his two friends for years now and it seemed obvious to everyone except to the two actually involved that they were head over heels for each other. Jack would be tempted to lock them in the brig together until they admitted their feelings if he wasn’t scared of Merida throwing him overboard.

“And everyone sleeps below deck?” Rapunzel interrupted his thoughts, sounding oddly hesitant.

“Yeah – except Merida, me and Hiccup, like we said earlier.” He said, trying to figure out why she was looking so ...twitchy.

She gave a nervous laugh. “Oh yes, so you did. Silly me. Guess I wasn’t listening properly. I do that sometimes you know, it’s a bad habit but it’ll get caught up in my own thoughts and just start rambling on and on, especially if I’m nervous. Not that there is any reason to be nervous of course. Why would there be? Just because I’ve never slept in a room with anyone else for my entire life and have barely met any strangers and now I’m going to be sleeping in a dark room underwater with a room full of pirates I’ve never met before is no reason to be nervous....”

The penny dropped and Jack had to hide his smile as he realised what she had been so worried about. As the only other woman on the ship apart from Merida, the plan had always been for the two ladies to share Merida’s large room. Even though the men would never do anything (ignoring the fact they were decent people, they would never have dared risk Merida’s wrath) Merida had taken a liking to Rapunzel so she certainly didn’t mind sharing with the other woman. She had even mentioned she was quite looking forward to a bit of female companionship or “someone whose thoughts aren’t controlled by what’s in their trousers” as she put it.

A decent man would tell Rapunzel about her sleeping arrangements in order to put her mind at rest. Hiccup would have done. But he wasn’t Hiccup.

He grinned evilly.

“...and I’m sure that not all of them could possibly have pointy teeth –“

“You know Punz” he said, interrupting her increasingly panicked ramblings. “you don’t have to sleep below deck if you don’t want to.”

“I don’t?” She looked up at him in relief. Perhaps she could sleep up in the crows nest or something? Despite having spent the entire day trying to get away from her tower, she thought that the height would still be oddly comforting.

“Of course not.” He struck a casual pose, leaning on his staff as he gazed at her steadily. The heat in his eyes made Rapunzel feel nervous again.

“You could always share with me. What do you say?” he winked.

She blinked.

“But what about you and Hiccup? Wouldn’t I be in the way of your time together?” she looked at him in confusion as his attempt to make her flustered went completely over her head.

“Huh?!” Jack’s suave demeanour was undermined as his staff slipped and he nearly lost his balance. One arm cart wheeling violently to remain upright, he blushed slightly as he regained his footing.

She giggled at his momentary clumsiness and he coughed into his hand in embarrassment before continuing. “What do you mean mine and Hiccup’s time together?”

“Did I hear my name? Whatever he is telling you about me Rapunzel, don’t believe a word of it.”

Hiccup and Merida came up behind them, their private discussion obviously finished with for now.

“I didn’t say anything” Jack responded hotly. “It was Rapunzel!”

“You have something you want to know about me?” Hiccup asked her kindly. “Ask away, I’m an open book!”

“I er...well...it’s just that Jack kindly offered for me to share with him since I was nervous about sleeping below deck –“

Hiccup slapped Jack in the back of the head and Merida gave him a look that promised retribution.

“- but it’s ok because I don’t want to get in-between Jack and Hiccup, since I can’t imagine you get much time alone together to...you know. Be a couple....” she trailed off as she registered three astounded faces looking back at her.

There was a beat of silence before Merida erupted into squeals of laughter. Jack and Hiccup looked at each other in shock before following shortly with some embarrassed chuckles of their own.

“Oh, oh that’s just too good!” Merida gasped between her cries of laughter, tears of mirth starting to form in her eyes. “Jack and Hiccup together, oh wow, there’s an image for you! Och, Poor Hiccup, I’m not sure he’d last a day trying to court that man child there” she snorted.

“Bah, Hiccup would be lucky to have me I’ll have you know!” Jack shot back at her, trying to look unaffected but unable to hide the embarrassed blush on his cheeks.

“Yes yes Jack, I’m sure you would have made me very happy.” Hiccup said patronisingly, causing Merida to howl in laughter again.

“So...you’re not a couple then?” Rapunzel said, sounding a little put out at her blunder.

Hiccup grinned at her before answering: “No. Neither of us er....sail that particular ship.”

“But you said you share a room….”

“Yeah a room. Not a bed Punz.” Jack said, shaking his head in half hearted disbelief.

“Oh.” She nodded, taking it in. Then she suddenly realised what Jack had really been insinuating when he had invited her to share with him. “Oh!”

She swung round and hit him on the arm.

“Ow! What was that for?”

“Whatever it was, I’m sure you deserved it Jack.” Merida grinned, still beaming from Rapunzel’s innocent assumption. “Anyway, you don’t need to worry about where you’re sleeping Punzie, I’ve got a bed made up for you on the chez lounge in my room.”

“Thanks Merida – uh Captain Merida.” She replied shyly.

“When we’re not in front of the crew just Merida or Mer is fine.” The red head smiled at her. “Only Hiccup insists on keeping to formalities and I swear he only does it to annoy me.”

“I’m only giving you the respect you’re due Captain.” Hiccup said insistently. “Something that some people would be best to remember.” He added, nudging Jack in the ribs.

“I respect her!” Jack protested.

“Yeah, you respect the fact that I’d have you walk the plank if you didn’t.” Merida teased

“Or hang me upside down from the mast again” he reminded her.

“Ah yes. Good times.” She looked up at the sails wistfully.

As Rapunzel watched the three friends tease and laugh with each other she found herself smiling and laughing along more naturally than she had done in years. She felt warm inside and there was something else, a feeling she couldn’t quite put her finger on....

She was suddenly taken by surprise by a rather large yawn and she covered her mouth with her hand a little embarrassingly.

Looking over at her, Merida caught sight of the yawn and smiled kindly. “It’s getting rather late, I think it’s about time for us to retire. Hiccup are you ok to take the next shift after Hook Hand? Where’s Toothless?”

“He’ll still be out fishing somewhere, but I doubt he will be much longer. By the time it’s my turn to take the helm he’ll be back waiting for me I imagine.” He stifled a yawn of his own. “Right I’d better turn in now if I expect to get any sleep before I’m up again. Jack, I’m telling you now - if you wake me before I’m supposed to be up I will have Toothless leave his leftover fish in your bed.”

“Noted.” Jack gave him a mock salute. “To be honest I’m pretty beat myself after a day clambering along after Miss Runaway here, so I’ll head to bed too.”

As the men said their goodnights and turned to leave, Rapunzel suddenly grabbed Jack’s arm gently. He looked down at her in surprise.

“Um. Thank you by the way. For helping me. And....and for saying I’m fine the way I am.” She said shyly.

She half expected a sarcastic comment of some kind, but instead he just looked at her; his expression impossible to read. She felt frozen in place, pinned down by his gaze.

“You’re welcome.”

His soft voice seemed to release her and she nodded before letting go and stepping back a little. She watched as he and Hiccup vanished into the darkness to head back to their room, jumping slightly as Merida linked arms with her.

“Come on – I’ll show you where you’re sleeping.”

As Merida guided Rapunzel away by the arm, Jack and Hiccup made their way through the hatch and down the flight of steps to the first level below deck, before navigating the narrow passageway to their room.

Kicking open the door, Jack stopped short as he took in the state of it.

“What happened in here?!”

“Toothless happened.” Hiccup replied nonchalantly, unbuckling his sword and depositing it at the foot of his bed. “To be fair, it’s not like your side of the room looks much different anyway.”

“Look at my boot!” Jack held up a chewed up shoe in horror.

“What do you care? It’s not like you wear them.”

“Well I certainly can’t now! What am I supposed to do with one boot? I have two feet unlike some people.”

Hiccup threw a pillow at him, before pulling his shirt over his head and collapsing face down onto his bed.

“You’re not going to change anything else?” Jack asked, starting to change his own clothes. “Trousers? Shoes? That can’t be comfy sleeping like that.”

“Less talking. More sleeping.” He mumbled into his bed covers. Jack threw his pillow back at him which Hiccup merely picked up and tucked underneath his head.

Lying back on his own bed, Jack tucked his hands behind his head and stared at the ceiling. There was silence for a moment.

“So what do you think of the new girl?” he asked.

Hiccup sighed. He should have known Jack wouldn’t have let him alone that easily.

“She seems nice.” He murmured sleepily. “I don’t know how she put up being alone with you for so long.”

“I’m not that bad.” Jack shot him an irritated look. “Besides, you should have seen what she was like Hiccup – climbing up and down roofs and trees, hitting me in the head – for no reason I might add- getting us chased left right and centre by guards, falling in streams ....forget about her, I don’t know how I survived it all.....”

Listening to Jack’s ramblings, Hiccup lifted his head slightly and peered at his roommate curiously. He’d never seen Jack so wound up about a woman before. Usually the most Jack would say about the latest woman he had dated was that they had been “fun” followed by a lewd grin or else that they were “too boring.”

“...and what’s with her and Toothless becoming instant buddies anyway? Maybe I’ll lock him in her bedroom and see how much she still likes him after he’s messed up her stuff...”

“If you don’t like her, it’s not like you have to put up with her long anyway. She’ll probably want to get off at the next port.”

“I never said I didn’t like her.” Jack responded quickly.

“Oh?”

Jack could hear a smirk in Hiccup’s voice.

“Well, it’s not that I like her, I just don’t not like her. You understand?”

“Sure, that made perfect sense.” Hiccup rolled his eyes. “I’d advise you against that plan with Toothless though by the way – ignoring the fact he’d probably fry you if you try locking him in another room again, I’m not sure the Captain will thank you for it considering it’s actually her room too.” Hiccup reminded him before turning his back to Jack and pulling the pillow over his head.

Pausing, Jack leaned up on one arm and looked over at Hiccup; a wicked glint in his eye.  “Oh yeah, Merida. I’ve been meaning to ask, did you two enjoy your private talk together earlier?”

Jack couldn’t see Hiccup’s face but he could have sworn his back stiffened.

“I don’t know what you’re trying to insinuate Jack but I’m trying to sleep and I’m too tired for your games right now.” came the grumpy reply, Hiccup obviously having reached the end of his patience.

“No need to get touchy Hiccup, I was only wondering what could possibly have kept you two occupied long enough during all that time I was showing Rapunzel around. Perhaps a long, in depth discussion about the future of our fair ship. Or perhaps an impromptu game of “find the treasure.” Or perhaps-“

Smooth as silk, Hiccup reached between his bed and the wall and pulled out a flintlock pistol before flinging his arm back and pointing it at Jack, all the while keeping his back turned to him.

“One more word Jack – just one – and I’ll show you that Merida isn’t the only one around here who can shoot things with her eyes closed.”

“Sheesh, no need to get touchy” Jack grumbled, but it seemed to do the trick as he wriggled down under his covers and closed his eyes.

Returning the pistol to its hiding place Hiccup closed his eyes and sighed blissfully. Ah. Peace and quiet at last.

Meanwhile, Merida had led Rapunzel up the steps, past the helm and back into the room they were in before. Now she wasn’t panicking about being sold to the highest bidder, Rapunzel took the time to pay attention to Merida’s bedroom/office.

An imposing wooden desk was the first thing you saw upon entering the room, a high backed chair behind it decorated with carvings of bears and facing the doorway. The smaller chair she had previously sat in was against the wall next to the door and a locked chest was tucked into the corner.

Behind the desk were two large, beautifully patterned screens. Gold swirls delicately spun across a green background and shielded the rest of the room from prying eyes. Pushing these to one side, Merida walked past them and Rapunzel followed curiously.

“I may be Captain but the ship isn’t large enough for me to have an office AND a bedroom all to myself. Since this room is so big I can easily split it into two with the screens though, and they keep my bedroom relatively private.”Merida explained.

“At least when I remember to use them” she thought to herself, trying not to go red as she remembered Hiccup walking in on her dressing, only to find that she had left the screens to one side and was in direct view of the doorway.

There was a lot more room behind the screens, with a large window stretched across the back.  Though they were currently covered with plush, dark green curtains, Rapunzel could imagine that they would hold a gorgeous view of the ocean in the day time.

In the absence of daylight, the lanterns lining the walls cast a warm glow across the room. Wooden floorboards were covered with a mishmash of rugs that looked like they were from all over the world, providing a multicoloured patch work of soft carpet that felt like heaven underneath Rapunzel’s feet.

A four poster bed was positioned side on to them, the headboard up against the wall. A hook had been securely screwed onto one of the posts by the headboard, which Merida promptly hung her bow and quiver on. The bedcovers looked like they were of high quality but were currently askew with a dress thrown haphazardly across it. Rapunzel realised it was the one Merida had been wearing when they first met. She could tell that the female captain was far more comfortable in her current attire and, to be honest, Rapunzel couldn’t blame her. Her own borrowed shirt and trousers gave her much more freedom than her stiff, royal clothing ever had.

A small changing screen was propped by the wall opposite the bed, and next to it was a large wardrobe, doors hanging open and clothes spilling from it. Rapunzel hid a smile as she realised that Merida was perhaps not the tidiest person in the world.

The chez lounge Merida had mentioned was pushed up against one of the screens, positioned parallel to Merida’s bed. A pillow from Merida’s bed and a couple of cushions were already placed on it, along with some folded blankets.

“Make yerself at home.” Merida gestured towards the make-shift bed, yawning widely and stretching her other arm above her head.

She made her way over to her wardrobe and began rifling through it before emerging with a night shift in tow.

“It’s a bit short but it’s clean and should be fine to sleep in until we get you some better clothes.” She explained, throwing it over to her new roommate.

Rapunzel caught it and nodded gratefully.

Merida grabbed her own night clothes and moved behind the small screen to change, giving Rapunzel privacy to do the same. Not that Rapunzel would have cared about changing in front of her – Merida was another girl after all and Rapunzel had never been that self conscious about her body anyway.

Untying the scrap of purple material at her waist she let Jack’s trousers fall to the floor before placing her make-shift belt carefully beside her ‘bed’. Though she had left that world behind her it was the only thing she had left of her previous life and she felt like it couldn’t hurt to keep it.

Next she pulled her shirt over her head, carefully drawing her hair through it before folding it neatly and placing it with the rest of her clothes. Then on went the nightdress – the material was a soft cotton, dyed light blue with ribbons of the same colour lining the edges of the short sleeves which ended at her upper arm. Merida was right in regards to its length - the dress fell a good few inches above her knee and she knew that Gothel would have been horrified at such an immodest length.

Once finished changing there was only one thing left to do before she went to bed – unbraid her hair. Sighing in resignation she sat on her bed and pulled her hair over her shoulder. It was a lot more convenient to have her hair up in a braid and she would probably leave it that way all the time if it wasn’t for two things – 1) she lost the freedom it gave her when using it to climb and 2) it was ridiculously uncomfortable to sleep on.

Merida appeared in a long, dark blue shift that fell to her knees, with soft brown leggings underneath. Rapunzel thought that she looked younger somehow, divested of her imposing captains coat or over-frilled dress. The simple look suited her.

Catching sight of Rapunzel’s appraising look Merida felt the need to explain her appearance. “I find that a long shift and leggings is more practical to wear to bed than a night dress.” She grinned sheepishly. “Captains can be needed at a moment’s notice and I’d rather not be standing on deck giving orders to the men with the wind revealing my underwear to the entire ocean.”

Plonking herself down next to the blonde she gestured to Rapunzel’s hair: “Want a hand with that?”

Rapunzel blinked in surprise before nodding hesitantly and turning so Merida had better access to the back of her head. Sitting cross legged, Merida began to gently tease out the ribbons holding Rapunzel’s hair in place.

Glancing over Rapunzel’s shoulder at her bare legs, she continued: “I can find a spare pair of leggings for you too if you like? I know most women don’t “do” trousers or such things but you seemed pretty at home in the ones you borrowed from Jack....”

Rapunzel shrugged. “I don’t mind sleeping in this to be honest. I doubt I’ll be needed to run outside and give orders to the crew after all.” She grinned. “Some leggings or trousers for the day time would be handy though. The only clothing I have with me is my dress which was pretty torn up getting out of the city.”

“I’ll get Killer to have a look at it” Merida said running her fingers through the golden locks as she finished untangling one of the multiple braids. Her hair was so soft and it flowed like silk! She almost felt a twinge of jealousy as she thought of her own tangled mane.

“Killer?”

Though Merida couldn’t see Rapunzel’s face, she could hear the confusion in her voice.

“He’s one of the crew members. Loves to sew, that guy; has a real knack for it. I don’t think any of my men are what you could call “stereotypical” pirates.”

“No…no I don’t suppose they are” Rapunzel replied softly, half to herself. A certain white haired man sprang to mind. Closing her eyes she relaxed at the feel of Merida’s surprisingly gentle hands combing through her hair, the tightness and strain on her scalp loosening with each braid she teased free. It felt so nice. She couldn’t remember the last time someone had played with her hair. It was so soothing….

Merida could see Rapunzel’s shoulders relax as she continued to loosen her hair. Tension she perhaps hadn’t realised she was holding seemed to vanish with every new lock of hair that cascaded down around them. Then quietly – so quietly at first that Merida didn’t even realise it was coming from her – Rapunzel began to hum.

Her voice was soft and melodic, gentle and sweet. It worked its way into Merida’s mind and heart; making her feel warm from within. Then, almost at the same moment Merida realised where the sound was coming from, she noticed that the hair she was combing had started to glow.

Her eyes widened and mouth dropped open as the strands of hair amongst her fingers shimmered. At first she would have described it like candlelight, but then she realised it shone with a warmth too steady and golden to be like fire. No, this was like sunshine.

A gentle tingle spread across her hands from where they held Rapunzel’s hair and as she studied them closely she began to notice faint scars across her knuckles fading; turning back to pink, healthy skin.

She whistled in amazement but almost instantly regretted it because Rapunzel was startled out of her dream-like state and stopped humming. The instant she did, the light faded, her hair turning back to its normal blonde state.

Realising what she had been doing, Rapunzel turned and looked at Merida over her shoulder sheepishly. “Sorry. Was I…?”

“Yeah, but don’t apologise! Wow, that was….does it do that every time?”

“When I sing or hum yeah. Don’t ask me why my hair is so fond of music, it’s a mystery!” she joked feebly. “I guess I haven’t been around other people for so long it’s…easy to forget myself. It felt so nice having you play with my hair that I could have easily drifted off, practically no one but me has touched it in years…”

“No one?” Merida asked in surprise. “But didn’t yer Mum or even yer servants help you with it?”

“Mother wasn’t able to visit very often, and when she could it was only for short amounts of time. The guards saw my hair as something sacred and magical that they didn’t dare to touch and Gothel…well. I imagine she probably would have loved to keep her bony fingers all over it but after I realised how manipulative she was, I didn’t really like the idea of her touching me. I told her I preferred to braid and wash it myself and it’s been that way ever since.”

The two of them fell into companionable silence for a while as Merida finished her task. As the last of Rapunzel’s locks fell into a golden waterfall around their feet Rapunzel spoke up in a quiet voice: “I shall miss them. My parents I mean. And....others. But I don’t regret it. Not one bit.” Her voice turned firm at the end of her sentence, resolute in her decision. “I may have lived there my entire life but it was never home to me. I don’t know what home is.”

Merida thought of her own family – when was the last time she had seen them? A dull pain lanced through her chest as she thought of it, and she squashed down the feelings that threatened to overwhelm her. She thought she had dealt with any residual feelings of longing for her family long ago but the recent situation with Mordu had brought them all surging to the surface.

Even though she still felt that she had done the right thing in leaving, that didn’t stop her caring about them. She loved them dearly and she would do anything she could to protect them, but surely there had to be a way to do that without getting Rapunzel involved?

With effort she ignored the lingering ache in her heart and uncrossed her legs to stand, being careful to avoid treading on Rapunzel’s hair.  She looked down at the smooth river of hair now tumbling in a pile at both their feet and shook her head in amazement.

“And I thought my hair was a nightmare to deal with. I have no idea how you carry all that around with you all the time. Doesn’t your neck ache?”

“Sometimes” she admitted “But only when it’s all up in braids to be honest; then the entire lot is hanging from my head. Usually the floor is supporting most of the weight so it isn’t an issue.” She shrugged.

“Doesn’t it get dirty being on the floor all the time?”

Rapunzel fingered a few strands of her hair, bringing it up to her face and looking at it with disinterest. “I don’t know what it is about it, but it’s like it repels dirt or something. I rarely have to wash it, and when I did it was only because I had managed to pour a bucket of paint over it or something like that.”

“Paint?”

“Mmmm.” Rapunzel hummed affirmatively.

“You like art?”

“Oh yes, it was one of the few things that kept me sane! I covered the walls with anything I could think of; I had started going over old paintings by the time I had left.”

“We’ll have to get you to tart up this place a bit before you go” Merida grinned. “It could do with a new lick of paint!”

“Sounds like fun!” Rapunzel bounced slightly on the chez lounge, smiling back up at her excitedly. “You’re gonna need a lot of paint though!”

“We can pick some up at the next port.” Merida yawned, walking back over to her bed and pulling the abandoned dress onto the floor before sliding under the covers. “Provided you don’t decide to get off there of course.”

Rapunzel was silent for a moment, leaning back on her pillows and pulling the blankets over her. “I dunno. I haven’t really given it any thought as to where I was going exactly, as long as it was far away from Corona. I guess I’ll know it when I find it.”

“How will you know?” Merida asked sleepily.

“Because it will feel like home.” Rapunzel yawned, before closing her eyes and drifting off to a peaceful sleep.

*whines again* argh, you are too good.

I am going to drive myself crazy waiting 4 the next chapter. I swear, like every 20 minutes I'll be checking for chapter 14, I AM THAT HOOKED ON YOUR WRITING.

Honestly, you come up with a couple of characters, a strange new world, and an intriguing storyline, you could write a bestseller no problem.
Actually if you ever do something like that, you should expect to see me at the bookstore midnight the day it comes out so I can be one of the first ones to read it.
I would probably be one of those people who would camp out in front of the store to get it first.

Keep up the great, no, super-duper-extra-awesome work and I await the next chapter with bated breath and tense anticipation. ARRGH!!
